Abstract:The existing technology evolution studies mostly aim at artifacts .However ,there are many bottomed technical know ledge elements w hich tend to be the leading force in the formation and evolution of technical evo‐lutionary tree .Under the guidance of this view ,based on patents and their referencing process ,the article structures the visualization process of technology evolution ,describes the features of the technical evolution tree ,and analyzes the different characteristics reflected by the comparison with the tree of evolution using the basic concepts of biological evolution .Finally ,according to Marx’s views ,the power of evolution of the tech‐nology evolutionary tree is analyzed ,and the conclusion is draw n that inventors are the main driving force of technology evolution and their individual choice determines the path and direction of technological evolution .
